Bedekar explained that the 7% increase in GPU performance is only used when the respective VR application cannot deliver stable frame rates.

Neil Bedekar’s team was instrumental in developing this performance boost. In a Twitter thread, Bedekar reached out to developers and explained exactly what the benefits of higher GPU clock speeds are and how developers can get the most out of it.
Bedekar explained that the 7% increase in GPU performance is only used when the respective VR application cannot deliver stable frame rates. In this case, users can expect a slight increase in frame rate.
A VR app that runs stably all the time won’t take advantage of the faster GPU performance. Developers should first of all increase the load on the system.
Bedekar added that the performance boost will only be enabled by default on the next software update (version 49). Prior to this, users had to double-click the Meta Quest 2 power button, which is why Bedekar recommends rolling out app optimizations after the update is released.
