The Next Earth Metaverse invites Twitter-blocked journalists and launches the Free Media in the Metaverse initiative.

BUDAPEST, Hungary, Dec. 21, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Next Earth, the world’s largest web3 metaverse with the largest number of landowners, has launched the Free Media in the Metaverse initiative to create a Metaverse Free Press Standard in response to recent international outcry over Twitter blocks several journalists. “We invite not only journalists who are banned from Twitter, but all media professionals and media organizations that support freedom of the press to enter the Metaverse and work together to set the standard for press freedom in the decentralized web3 environment. Our vision is always Gábor Retfalvi, CEO of Next Earth, said: “As a first step, Next Earth will launch a survey of media companies and journalists to evaluate their experiences with web2 regarding media freedom and how they think media should work in web3. and decentralized environment. Perceptions and Expectations of Working in the Metaverse Next Earth also invites every Metaverse project to join this initiative, thereby working with members of the media to develop standards and ethics for press freedom in the Metaverse.
As a terrestrial metaverse, Next Earth provides tools for media companies and news organizations to create their own “news layer” and provide location-based news services on the web3 platform. “Our Developer Portal, launched in November, opens up our platform to the global developer community, allowing them to start building their own card-based applications using smart contracts and create their own dynamic NFTs. This is an opportunity for media companies to build and deliver map-based, geo-referenced news services in a web3 environment,” said David Taylor, Product Director, Next Earth. “Using our technology, in the near future, news outlets will be able to sell their subscriptions as dynamic NFTs because they have mutable properties and can store data like news feeds,” media company David Taylor said of a possible use case. Next Earth’s “Earth Description” feature now allows users to insert text messages and web links into NFT earth profiles linked to real-world locations, already providing a basic “news feed”-like activity.
