Immersive NBA VR Streaming Experience Lets You Be Any Gamer

As part of All-Star Weekend, the NBA is committed to moving forward with a league that remains at the forefront of innovation and new technology.
The most innovative step is the NBA’s introduction of virtual reality (VR) technology during games, allowing fans to choose the role of any player, which is unprecedented in the sports world.
Virtual reality technology was introduced to football at the last World Cup in 2022, when FIFA released an app that allowed fans to check players’ dates in real time by pointing a camera at each player on the steps.
However, the NBA has gone even further as fans can be virtually on the court. With reporter and former NFL staffer Ahmad Rashad as a volunteer, NBA commissioner Adam Silver showed off the new feature.
Fans can scan their avatars into a live NBA game, select a game, and then have to “request” a player, whether it’s Talen Horton-Tucker, whom they’re testing in practice, or LeBron James.
In the video you can see Rashad dunking because that’s what “THT” does. An ordinary body is brutally suspended from a hoop thanks to virtual reality.
